Minutes of the Board of IOPCA February 11, 2015

The meeting was called to order at 6:14 p.m. Present were Gary Trbovich, Patti Pacheco, Susan Oosting, Beth Heath, and Christi Newton-Foster.
Minutes of the January regular and special meeting of the Board were approved.
The treasurer reported that the only expense for January was $19.00 for the fee for Constant Contact.
The treasurer reported that there was one new membership – William and Gene Morris on Palm Island Dr. Susan Oosting will deliver IOP car magnets to the new members.
Old Business:
• Neighborhood Yard Sale. The article for the web site and Constant Contact campaign was reviewed and approved. Reminder to register signs will go out on February 18th. The deadline to register is March 11th. Yard sale signs go out on the Sunday before the sale, March 8th. Susan will place signs and buy balloons to advertise on the day of sale.
• Isle of Palm neighborhood identification signs. Report from Christi on communication with Jean Shimp of Shimp Signs. A new traffic engineer has been appointed. A neighborhood is allowed a sign at every entrance. Shimp suggested two signs on break-away posts at each entrance. After extensive discussion, it was decided to restart the process with the new traffic engineer.
• Isle of Palms Park. Beth reported that the new Parks and Recreation director, Tony Lopez, and his assistant have visited Isle of Palms park and are aware of the maintenance issues. A meeting with Parks and Recreation is set for February 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss efforts to stop the continued vandalism of the fence between the park and the apartment complex, and to explore what the city can do to interface with the apartment management.
It was noted that the park lights now come on at dusk. The old sign with park rules is missing, and a replacement sign is needed.
New Business:
• An email has been received from John Davis of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, asking if the IOPCA would like him to offer boating safety classes children. The last time this was offered, there was no response. It was decided not to offer a course, but to support boating safety courses offered in other places.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
